Foster Care Month

Recently, the Governor showed her support for Oklahoma’s foster parents by announcing this proclamation:

Proclamation

Whereas, childhood is a memorable time, setting the stage for productive, well-adjusted adults; and

Whereas, more than 11,000 Oklahoma children are unable to remain at home through no fault of their own; and

Whereas, these children can often experience sadness, pain, and separation; and

Whereas, every child needs a safe, loving and permanent home; and

Whereas, we thank the many dedicated professionals who work to improve the safety of our most vulnerable children; and

Whereas, we recognize individuals from every walk of life who have opened their hearts and their homes to a child; and

Whereas, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services works tirelessly to ensure a bright and hopeful future for the state’s foster youth;

Now, therefore, I, Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, do hereby declare May, 2015 as

“Foster Care Month” In the State of Oklahoma

Celebrate Foster Care month by becoming a foster parent or by thanking a foster parent for all they do for Oklahoma’s children!
