Support Groups
Support Groups are designed to support resource parents through in-service training, community resource information, peer connection, and communication with OKDHS. Attending regularly is a great way to receive both emotional and practical support while also staying up to date on required training. Please note that family fun activities do not count toward in-service training credit.
All training must be approved by your resource worker and supervisor. Some groups offer dinner or snacks, and most provide childcare with an RSVP. While we do our best to keep information current, schedules may change or be canceled. Please contact the group facilitator to confirm details, learn about the topic, and RSVP.
The University of Oklahoma National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) partners with OKDHS to provide support groups. See upcoming support groups here.
Additional support groups are listed below by County.
We are excited to start back up with some in-person trainings and will be adding more throughout the year, if there are no current support groups in your area please consider our virtual options as these are available for all resource parents to attend.
See the Resource Parent Online Support Group – Role of Attachments and Meeting Needs – Jan. 22nd. Virtual support group information will also be sent to your email address that is in our system.
