Support Groups are designed to assist resource parents with in-service training, community resource information, peer support, and communication with DHS. Attending on a regular basis is not only a great way to get the emotional and practical support you need to succeed, it’s a great way to stay on top of the training requirements you need to fulfill- family fun activities will not be counted towards in-service training credit. Please check with your resource worker and supervisor for all training approvals. Some groups serve dinner or snacks; most provide child care with your RSVP. We try to ensure all information is up to date, however due to possible changes or cancellations please contact the facilitator for the individual support group to confirm, find out about the topic, and RSVP.
We are excited to start back up with some in-person trainings and will be adding more throughout the year, if there are no current support groups in your area please consider our virtual options as these are available for all resource parents to attend.
See The Oklahoma Kinship, Foster, & Adoptive Family Online Support Group Meeting flyer – November 2023 (PDF) and save the dates for future meetings here. Virtual support group information will also be sent to your email address that is in our system.
